1846
Early history
The first settlers came to the area around 1846.
1856
A Post Office
A post office was established.
1882
Railroad
The first railroad was built and was used to ship livestock to market
1900
A Town
The town was incorporated. Adam Stiffler was the first mayor
1972
Growth
The city has expanded through several annexations, including the Howard Hughes farm in 1972, the Casady farm in 1973, and the max Willison farm in 1977.
1989
Lakewood and Echo Valley
The neighborhoods of Lakewood and Echo Valley Estates were annexed in 1989
2024
Now
In 2024, the city had a population of 14,334
